fans were left stunned alongside host after a young player made a very shocking confession.

viewers were introduced to four new players all hoping to answer a series of trivia questions and take home a cash prize.

But it was player Candice, a 41-year-old primary school teacher from Nottingham who left Bradley with his jaw dropped after admitting she was a grandma.

During her chat with Bradley ahead of her cash builder round, she admitted having three children and also revealed "I'm a grandma aswell."

Bradley was stunned into silence before saying: "Really? Crikey! You look like you're in your 20s."

"Thank you very much," she replied, before Brad added: "I've had a hard old life haven't I?"

Fans at home were equally stunned. Taking to X several fans commented on the young player's admission.

"Grandma at 41. Wow," said one follower of the show.

"A grandma? How old was she?" penned a second, while a third chimed in: "#thechase how on earth in Candice a grandma she looks way too young!"

Candice went on to reveal that her grandson is only 8-months old, but Bradley still revered her age and youthful looks.

Candice went on to bag just £3k in her cash builder round, before Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis made his appearance as today's brainiac.

Offering her a top prize of £33k because he felt teacher's deserve more money - Candice declined and went for the lower offer of £1k.

Unfortunately Candice didn't fair well during her battle with the Irish quiz genius and botted off the show first.

The trend continued, with player Cillian soon seeing the back door after failing to fend off The Manace.

Lucy and Huw made it through to the final with just £2k, very different from a recent episode where a team landed £100k in their bank. The show made headlines after the episode with fans accusing bosses of a "fix" following the record-breaking loss.

Despite answering 17 queries right as a trio in the final chase, they faced heartbreak when The Vixen caught them with only five seconds spared, reducing one player to fight back tears.

Concern arose among viewers following a heart-stopping finale in which the contestants missed out on a substantial cash prize with a mere five seconds left on the clock. This sparked discussions online that the final chase might have been rigged.

The controversy ignited after host Bradley Walsh asked The Vixen in the closing moments, "Which Swedish director was nominated for nine Oscars?"

The Chaser responded simply with: "Bergman," which Bradley accepted without insisting on a full name.

This led to an outcry from one viewer who took to social media to express their frustration: "Seriously poor from Brad and The Chase tonight. Team robbed. There are four Bergman film directors in one family alone...surely she had to give a Christian name? #thechase."

Another chimed in with disappointment: "They just got swindled there with that Bergman answer #TheChase."
