A plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Las Vegas after smoke was seen coming out of an engine after takeoff. American Airlines Flight 1665 was forced to make an emergency U-turn and land back at Harry Reid International Airport after the incident.
Terrifying footage showed the plane flying overhead smoke trailing from its right engine. Fire crews are investigating, and no injuries have been reported.
The plane was on its way to Charlotte, North Carolina, with 153 passengers and crew members onboard.
American Airlines says the flight was forced to return to Las Vegas due to a "mechanical issue". A spokesperson for the carrier said: "American Airlines flight 1665 returned to Las Vegas (LAS) shortly after takeoff due to a mechanical issue. The aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and customers deplaned normally.
"We appreciate the professionalism of our crew and thank our team who are working to get our customers to their destinations as quickly as possible."
