The Spanish publication reported that Rashford's agent - his brother Dwaine Maynard - held talks with Barca sporting director Deco in a Spanish hotel on Wednesday morning.
And the chances of Rashford signing for Barcelona have increased as the club's manager Hansi Flick and their sporting management are seduced by the player's extreme motivation to join them.
Barcelona believe that Rashford could uncover his full potential should he move to the Nou Camp. But the Spanish giants are only looking at a loan with an option to buy at this stage and would then turn the transfer into a permanent one should he succeed at the club.
Rashford reportedly has several admirers in the Barcelona dressing room and has already been indirectly informed about what the atmosphere is like at the club. And if it was up to him, he'd join the club tomorrow.
Some of Rashford's entourage also believe it is in the player's interest to leave England, with the star willing to join Barca without guarantees of anything.
And the England international is prepared to sweeten the deal as he would accept a pay cut to ensure he gets the move he is after.
"Just a message of thanks to everyone here at Villa for what has (injury aside) been an incredible few months for me," Rashford wrote on social media following the conclusion of the Premier League season as he hinted that he had played his final game for the club.
"It is a really special club and I appreciated the way Villa fans embraced me with open arms from 1st minute on the pitch.
"Manager, team, and coaching staff have all been brilliant. I know it is a huge disappointment not to have made the Champions League place which everyone worked so hard all season for but I know this club and team will come back stronger."
