has once again left golf fans furious as he skips media duties for a fourth consecutive day at the . The Masters champion endured a frustrating week on the course, finishing his four rounds three over par.
Freed from his major championship hoodoo and playing on a course where he's won four times on the PGA Tour, many were expecting a big performance from the recently crowned Masters champion. Instead, it was anything but, with McIlroy never really getting going during a week where he was constantly up against it.
McIlroy's preparations for the second major of the year were rocked when it was revealed , forcing him into a late change.
On his media snub, @young5skiers added: "This is why Rory has a reputation... He's a great golfer but a bit of a diva, especially when things are not going right for him."
@TreydingStocks was more sympathetic but was keen to see a rule change, saying: "Stop giving them the option to decline. No other sport does that. Make them come talk, it's part of the game, sports are for fans at the end of the day. Can't blame Rory for not talking if they allow him to do it."
McIlroy now has just under a month to compose himself ahead of the US Open, with the five-time major winner entering the competition with a point to prove. It was during last year's dramatic final round at Pinehurst where McIlroy through away the lead to LIV Golf ace Bryson DeChambeau. The next major in the calendar starts on Thursday, 12 June at Oakmont Country Club in Texas.
