Tennis star too shy to speak to 'biggest idol' Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon

British teenager Mika Stojsavljevic has admitted she has been too shy to speak to her hero Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon. The London-born wildcard, 16, has a Serbian father and a Polish mother.

And last year's US Open girls' champion said: "Djokovic is my biggest idol ever. I love him, so he definitely inspired me. And at one point it was Djokovic and Iga (Swiatek) as number one.

"And that was quite funny, because obviously I'm half of both, which was really cool and inspiring. They can do it, so I can do it, maybe. I have seen him around a few times but I haven't spoken to him. He's just got too much aura!"

Stojsavljevic, who will play American No.31 seed Ashlyn Krueger in the first round, has just finished her GCSEs. "It was very difficult," she said. "I don't really think I slept for a month and a half, but I'm so glad it's over and I can just focus on playing.

"I didn't play certain tournaments so that I could just focus on the exams and always be at school when I was doing them.

"But for tournaments like Nottingham, we had to move my matches around to make sure that I could still do the exam and play. Once I think I had an exam in the morning and played a match in the afternoon. I don't think I won!"
