Tommy Paul and his long-time girlfriend Paige Lorenze have announced their engagement. The world No. 16 suffered a shock second-round defeat at Wimbledon, but he made the most of his early exit and proposed to his influencer girlfriend on a beach.
The couple announced the news in a joint Instagram post on Monday, with fellow tennis players and influencers flocking to the comments to congratulate them.
Paul and Lorenze shared some snaps from their engagement, with Lorenze pictured in a stunning white dress. A close-up showed her rectangle-cut diamond ring in all its glory. "Forever," she wrote in the caption, with a white heart emoji.
Coco Gauff, Victoria Azarenka, and Danielle Collins were among those who congratulated the couple in the comments, while the official Australian Open and ATP Tour accounts also wished the couple well.
Lorenze has since shared another video of their engagement, showing the happy couple embracing at the beach before she flashes her ring to the camera. "Dream man forever," she added.
In another Instagram story, she wrote: "The amount of thought and love Tommy put into these past few days makes me want to cry all over again... I feel so incredibly lucky.
"He planned everything so thoughtfully, every detail, every surprise, surrounded by my favourite things and the people I love most. I'll share more soon but right now I'm just soaking it all in!! Thank you for all the love and congratulations."
Their engagement comes a year after Lorenze made waves when she supported Paul at Queen's, when he lifted the trophy at the Wimbledon warm-up event.
The 27-year-old has been supporting Paul at tournaments across the world since 2022, but she caused a stir when he was crowned the champion at the Queen's Club last summer, beating Lorenzo Musetti in the final.
Paul and Lorenze posed for a photo on the centre court, while the American held his trophy. A video of the moment went viral, with fans suggesting Lorenze was stealing the limelight as she stood next to her beau and posed with her hand around his neck and shoulder.
"I'm sorry but this is hard to watch," one user wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). Another branded the moment "cringe" while one fan claimed: "I've never seen any other players partners be in their post match on court trophy photos."
But Lorenze has had the last laugh after Paul proposed to her. And the world No. 16 will be hoping his fiancee's support can help him win another title at the ATP 500 event in Washington, which kicks off next week.
