
A 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life after a horrific fall in a playground. The emergency services were called to the scene at Wharton Recreation Ground off Ledward Street in Winsford at 6.11pm yesterday, August 29, following a distress call from the North West Ambulance Service.
They arrived to a 12-year-old who had suffered severe injuries after falling from park equipment. Despite the heroic efforts of paramedics on site, the young boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The boy's family has been informed and is currently receiving support from specialist officers from Cheshire Police.
Police are now urging anyone with any information about this tragic incident to come forward as their investigation continues.
Detective Sergeant John Rhodes, from the Protecting Vulnerable People Investigations Unit, expressed: "This was a deeply tragic incident involving a very young victim and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the boy who sadly died at the scene.", reports the Liverpool Echo.
He further appealed: "As part of our investigation into this incident, we are asking anyone who may have been in or around the Wharton Recreation Ground area just off Ledward Street in Winsford at around the time of the incident and saw anything that may aid us in our enquiries, to please get in touch."
He also cautioned: "At this stage I would also like to ask the public not to feed into any speculation, particularly on social media, as this remains an ongoing investigation."
