Train line blocked at Bristol station as emergency services rush to incident

A person has been found dead on a train line between two biggest train stations. Earlier today, Lawrence Hill train station was closed after what was described as an "incident" between and .

Emergency services attend the scene shortly after 10.30 this morning, with later confirming the death. They said in a statement: "Officers were called to the line near at around 10.30am today (April 10) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "We were called at 10.31am on Thursday, April 10 to an incident in Bristol.

"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer, a critical care car and the hazardous area response team to the scene."

National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Bristol Temple Meads and Stapleton Road.

"To allow the emergency services to carry out their work all lines are closed.

"Trains running between Bristol Temple Meads and Severn Beach / Severn Tunnel Junction / Bristol Parkway may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 2.30pm."

Rail replacement was arranged from noon, according to National Rail.

A rail replacement bus service will be in operation between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway from approximately 12:00.

  • 42 / 43 / 44 / 45 between Bristol (Centre) and Lawrence Hill (Station)

  • 70 between Bristol (Temple Meads), Montpelier (Colstons School) and Filton

  • 72 between Bristol (Temple Meads), Redland (Station) and Filton

  • 75 between Parson Street (Station), Bedminster (Parade), Bristol (Centre), Montpelier (Colstons School) and Filton
