Life often takes unexpected turns and for former WWE wrestler and baseball player Rinku Singh, that turn led him from stadium lights to the serene corridors of an ashram in Vrindavan. Once known for his fierce performances and global fame, Rinku is now making headlines for something entirely different, his quiet devotion and humility.
A video that recently went viral on social media shows Rinku Singh sweeping the floors at Premanand Ji Maharaj’s ashram, dressed in simple monk attire with a tilak on his forehead. For many who knew him as a global sports figure, seeing him perform humble acts of seva (service) came as both a surprise and an inspiration. The clip beautifully captures his transformation, from a celebrated athlete to a spiritual seeker finding meaning in simplicity.
The video retraces his remarkable journey, beginning from his early days as a baseball player. Rinku’s career began when he threw a baseball at an impressive speed of 87 mph, a moment that marked the start of his professional sports life. He soon became the first Indian to play professional baseball in the United States, spending several seasons in the minor leagues and reaching the Single-A level. His inspiring rise even caught Disney’s attention, the studio produced the 2014 film Million Dollar Arm, based on his real-life story alongside Dinesh Patel.
Rinku’s next chapter unfolded in WWE, where he made his debut in 2018 under the ring name “Veer Mahaan”. With his distinct desi appearance, dhoti-inspired attire, rudraksha mala and tilak, he stood out in the global wrestling arena, squaring off against legends like John Cena and The Great Khali.
But despite the fame, Rinku’s heart seemed to be searching for something deeper. The video shows a moving exchange between him and Premanand Maharaj, where the spiritual teacher gently tells him that when he feels ready for the world, he should come. Rinku, smiling with folded hands, softly responds that he now feels ready, a simple yet powerful acknowledgment of his inner transformation.
