Not Shubman Gill! Manoj Tiwary Thinks THIS Player Can Replace KL Rahul In India's Middle Order

Former India and Bengal cricketer Manoj Tiwary has said that with KL Rahul not being able to find his foot, the Indian selectors can take a look at Abhimanyu Easwaran and try him in the middle order, without tinkering with Sarfaraz Khan's batting spot. When the latter was batting with Rishabh Pant, hopes were high of a miracle win similar to Kolkata 2001.But Sarfaraz and Pant departed in quick succession and with the entire responsibility on Rahul's shoulders, he was dismissed for just 12 runs in the second innings after a duck in the first.Tiwary has said that with so much experience behind him, Rahul's Test average of 33.98 is disappointing and a look at Indian domestic cricket will provide many talents who might perform better.

“If in a Test, you can get a performance out of Sarfaraz by sending him at No. 4, I feel Abhimanyu Easwaran is a player, whom we have given that 'opener' tag and he is a specialist opener, but if you look at his numbers, there were hardly any innings in the last few matches he played where he did not score a century," Tiwary said while speaking on Cricbuzz. "So bring him in and try him as a middle-order batter, given that he is in form. Why not," the former Indian cricketer asked. Tiwary said that going by his understanding of the current Indian team management, Rahul will be backed for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well, although he doesn't find any logic in it. “But again, as much I have understood, they will keep backing Rahul because he has the experience and is a technically sound batter. But then you also need performances, consistently, which should be checked in a 1:3 ratio," Tiwary said. Easwaran, whom the former Indian cricketer has backed to make way into the senior team, has scored four centuries in his last six innings in domestic cricket. It includes a 191-run knock against Mumbai for the Rest of India in the Duleep Trophy and an unbeaten 157-run knock against India B in the Duleep Trophy.
