Noida: A 3.5 km stretch of road from Noida Sector 62 to Mamura will undergo a major revamp to ease traffic congestion, as part of the model road project. This road corridor is heavily used by commuters due to its proximity to office buildings and residential societies. The stretch witnesses severe traffic, especially during peak hours as heavy traffic flows from NH-9 to Noida. The estimated cost of the model road project is around Rs 7 crore. According to the TOI report, Noida Authority officials said that the authority's traffic cell is currently finalising a detailed plan for the project. A study by the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies, Lucknow was also conducted to assess traffic flow and suggest improvements.
Upgrades Of Model Road Project -The main upgrades planned under the model road project include the construction of designated auto-rickshaw and taxi stands, and a foot over bridge equipped with an elevator near sectors 62 and 63. These upgrades aim to improve the overall commuter and pedestrian experience by reducing traffic jams and ensuring safer pedestrian movement. Construction of organised stands for auto-rickshaws and taxis is aimed at addressing the current issue of haphazard parking, which frequently results in traffic delays. These stands will regulate vehicle parking and ensure that autos and taxis leave in an orderly manner, thus reducing congestion, the TOI report added. Additionally, the project will also include a dedicated pedestrian lane for their safety. Benches will also be installed at various points along the stretch, and beautification efforts will add aesthetic appeal to the area. Moreover, another major improvement will be the reduction in size of the roundabout near Model Town, which is expected to significantly ease traffic flow. The adjacent road will also be widened to accommodate the heavy traffic flow from nearby corporate offices and colonies. Sanjay Khatri, additional CEO of Noida Authority, said that groundwork for the project is in place. He added the works on the project include road widening, construction of foot over bridges, and traffic management solutions which are all aimed at reducing congestion on the Sector 62 to Mamura Stretch. He said, ''The work on the ground will begin soon,'' as quoted by TOI.You may also like
