Cuttack: Dr Goutam Satpathy assumed charge as new superintendent of the SCB Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday. A notification regarding the appointment was issued by the health and family welfare department on Tuesday.
Dr Satpathy, who is currently professor and head of department of orthopaedics at SCB, took over charge from his predecessor, Dr Lucy Das.
With three decades of experience in the field of medical education and clinical practice, Dr Satpathy is expected to bring a renewed focus on healthcare delivery and hospital administration.
After assuming charge, Dr Satpathy said, "I am honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility. SCB is not just a hospital but a symbol of hope for millions. My focus will be on strengthening patient care, enhancing medical infrastructure, and ensuring a supportive environment for our doctors and staff."
He added that his priority will be to ensure quality healthcare and to keep the superintendent's office accessible to patients.
Dr Satpathy, a native of Cuttack, completed his MBBS from MKCG Medical College in Berhampur.
