Nashik: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Nashik has filed a case against a Class 2 supply inspector from the district supply office in Igatpuri.

The officer is accused of demanding a Rs30,000 from the complainant. An associate of the supply inspector, who is not a government employee, has also been booked by the ACB in connection with this bribery case.

A senior ACB official, while talking to TOI, said the complaint reached them earlier this year in Jan. "However, a case against the accused officer was registered on Tuesday after receiving approval from the head office," the official said.

"The accused and his associate have been issued a notice to be present for an inquiry as and when called. The complainant in the case is a villager from Igatpuri taluka," the official added.

The complainant had met the officer concerned to inform about as many as 60 families in the village who did not have ration cards. "The officer then told the complainant that he would take Rs500 for every ration card and he would have to pay Rs 30,000. The officer also took Rs4,000 as advance," the official said.
