Jaipur: An altercation occurred Saturday between police and a group of people at SMS Stadium regarding ticket sales for the forthcoming IPL matches scheduled at the venue.
The dispute transpired after many fake press releases circulated concerning the upcoming matches of the Rajasthan Royals at this venue. While these releases indicated that tickets would be available from April 5, the team management of the Rajasthan Royals had officially declared that ticket sales would commence on April 7.
"Following a misunderstanding, several spectators gathered at the SMS Stadium Saturday morning. Our officials negotiated with these spectators and persuaded them to vacate the premises. There was no arrest," said Kunwar Rasthradeep, the additional commissioner (I) of Jaipur Police.
Team management of Rajasthan Royals confirmed they had issued a press release on Friday that explicitly states that offline tickets for the forthcoming matches of the team would be available at the North Gate, East Gate, and West Gate of the SMS Stadium from April 7.
"Unfortunately, alongside this, several fake releases got circulated. These releases state that tickets would be available from April 5. We want to make it clear that we are going to open kiosks from April 7 inside the premises of SMS Stadium," a spokesperson of Rajasthan Royals stated.
Rajasthan Royals is all set to play four matches at SMS Stadium against Lucknow Super Giants (April 19), Gujarat Titans (April 28), Mumbai Indians (May 1) and Kings XI Punjab (May 16).
