NAGPUR: A 38-year-old cafe owner was shot dead after four people on two two-wheelers opened fire on him near Ram Nagar in Nagpur in the early hours of Tuesday, within the jurisdiction of the Ambazari police station.
The victim, Avinash Bhusari alias Rajat, was admitted to a private hospital in critical condition. He was learned to have sustained several serious injuries after bullets were fired at close range. He was later declared dead at the hospital.
Prima facie, Bhusari was killed as a fallout of gang war.
Bhusari, a resident of Jaitala have gone to enjoy ice dish along with his office guard and office boy.
The three were enjoying ice dish when the sharpshooters reached the place before opening the firing. The motive behind the firing is still not clear,” said a senior official.
Sources stated Bhusari frequented the place to enjoy ice dish and also brought his employees along.
Several senior officers including CP Ravinder Singal and Jt CP Nisar Tamboli had rushed to the spot. Crime branch officials too were pressed into actions to nab the accused.
An offence of attempt to murder has been registered at Ambazari police station.
