Nagpur: In a forceful rebuttal to PM Narendra Modi's recent remarks against the Congress, MPCC president Harshvardhan Sapkal on Monday launched a vehement critique, questioning the inclusivity of the BJP and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). "When will the RSS appoint a Dalit or a woman as Sarsanghchalak?" he enquired, directly challenging the PM.
Dismissing Modi's criticism of Congress as ‘preposterous and unfounded', Sapkal emphasised that the party's heritage — from its contribution to India's freedom struggle to its social reforms and technological advancement — was meticulously documented and irrefutable. "Under Congress governments, India progressed in literacy, science, and international standing. In Modi's 11 years, the sole evident accomplishment has been intensifying social schisms between castes and communities," he asserted.
Addressing economic hardship and escalating unemployment, Sapkal said Modi's governance has benefited the affluent whilst marginalising the impoverished. "He instructed people to bang utensils during Covid, but now remains silent on farmers, inflation, or the US trade tariffs," he remarked.
Reaffirming that BJP-RSS had historically opposed Dr BR Ambedkar's Constitution, Sapkal declared, "They have insulted Babasaheb repeatedly, yet now speak in his name. No rhetoric can obscure the truth."
He maintained that Congress embodies the spirit of inclusion, citing Saint Dnyaneshwar's Pasaydan: ‘Atma Vishwatmake Deve' — a philosophy, he noted, that the Modi government has consistently betrayed.
