Raipur: Amid a severe storm, one person was killed and two others were critically injured when a huge tree fell on the car they were travelling in, while returning back from Surajpur.
The accident occurred in the Narayanpur police station area of Jashpur district on Saturday evening.
A large mango tree fell on a moving car on the Bagicha–Charaidand State Highway during the storm.
The incident resulted in the death of the car's driver, Pradeep Ram Karmali, 40, a resident of Ramgarh, Jharkhand.
The injured have been identified as Vivek Kumar, 23, a resident of Jarhi, Surajpur (Chhattisgarh), and Pappu Kumar Mistri, 27, a resident of Ramgarh Topa, Jharkhand. Due to the severity of his condition, Vivek Kumar was referred to Ranchi for further treatment.
According to reports, Pradeep travelled to Jarhi, Surajpur, to attend a wedding ceremony with his relatives and was on his way to drop Vivek Kumar off in Ranchi when the accident occurred. Following the incident, police arrived at the scene, sent the deceased's body for post-mortem examination, and transported the injured to the hospital.
