Raipur: In a significant development aimed at boosting security and public welfare in one of Chhattisgarh's worst Maoist-affected zones, a new security and community services camp has been set-up in Pangud village, located in the Maoist hotbed of the Marh region in Narayanpur district. This is the 14th camp opened in district within a year which was opened near Sonpur Police Station in Narayanpur district.
The camp was jointly established by the Narayanpur District Police, District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, and the 129th, 133rd, 135th, and 86th battalions of the Border Security Force (BSF) under supervision of senior police officers.
According to officials, the camp's primary objectives include strengthening anti-Naxal operations, providing security for ongoing road construction, connecting interior villages like Sonpur, Dhodhribeda, Maspur, Horadi, Garpa, and Kandulnar to the national development framework.
Coinciding with the camp's inauguration, a one-day community policing outreach was held. Officers including Commandant Sanjay Singh, Deputy Commandant Sudhir Dwivedi, and others interacted with locals from Pangud, Koge, Sitaram, Binagunda, Koronar, and Wala. More than 200 villagers participated, receiving daily essential supplies. Officers addressed demands for electricity, piped water, education, healthcare, and road access, promising timely redressal and regular grievance camps.
Officials said that the newly established camp is not just a security post but a symbol of renewed governance in neglected areas.
It is expected to accelerate infrastructure work including roads, bridges, water supply, and mobile connectivity under the "Niyad Nellanar" (Good Governance) scheme.
Authorities view this move as a critical milestone in the fight against Naxalism. By establishing camps in high-risk zones, security forces not only gain tactical advantage but also boost confidence among locals.
