Chhattisgarh high court announces summer break from May 12; vacation benches to hear urgent cases

Send Push
RAIPUR: The High Court of Chhattisgarh will observe summer vacation from May 12 to June 6 and will reopen on June 9, according to a notification issued by the court.

However, vacation benches will be functional to hear urgent matters and old cases. The vacation judges are scheduled to hold court sittings on May 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, and 29, as well as on June 3 and 5.

During the summer break, all civil, criminal, and writ matters can be filed. Vacation judges may, in case of any urgent need, exchange their sittings with other judges after obtaining the Chief Justice's approval.

The division bench will commence its sitting from 10.30am onwards and may continue beyond court hours if required. Single bench matters will be taken up by the vacation judges after the completion of the division bench cases, if time permits.

The court registry will remain open daily from 10am to 5pm during the summer vacation, except on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
Cases to be listed during the summer vacation include all fresh writ, civil, and criminal matters with applications for urgent hearing.

For the listing of pending cases (other than bail applications), an urgent hearing application or an application for hearing during the summer vacation is necessary.

Cases not reached before a vacation bench will be listed before the next vacation bench in a separate list. Cases and applications filed up to 1.30pm on working days preceding the sitting day of the benches will be considered for listing on that sitting day, and the cause list will be published on the day before the sitting day.
