Manoj Kumar, lovingly called 'Bharat Kumar', was famous for his patriotic roles in films like Kranti and Upkar. He passed away on April 4, 2025, at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was given a state funeral with a three-gun salute. Reports say he died of a severe heart attack due to cardiogenic shock, and his health had already been affected by liver cirrhosis for several months. Now, his son Kunal Goswami has shared that he feels happy seeing how people appreciate and remember his father’s good deeds.

State Funeral and Final Rites

The legendary actor was cremated at Juhu Pawan Hans with full state honours. The funeral began at 11:30 am, and his sons, Vishal and Kunal, performed the final rites. His coffin was wrapped in the Indian national flag, and the ambulance carrying him was beautifully decorated with flowers.

A heartbroken Kunal, speaking to Instant Bollywood from the cremation ground, said he felt proud and grateful for the state honours given to his father. He appreciated the respect shown by the Maharashtra and Indian governments, as well as the presence of renowned artists who came to pay their last respects.

Celebrities Pay Tribute

To bid farewell to Manoj Kumar on his final journey, several celebrities arrived to pay their respects. Salim Khan came along with his son Arbaaz Khan, while Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Prem Chopra were also present to attend the last rites and support Manoj Kumar’s grieving family.

Shashi Kumar’s Heartbreak

Shashi was devastated upon seeing Manoj Kumar’s coffin, and her heartbreak was visible in viral videos capturing her grief. Manoj Kumar had loved only one woman all his life—Shashi. Their love story began during their college days, with quiet glances from afar. Shashi sensed his feelings first. With help from friends, they eventually went to watch Udan Khatola together, marking the beginning of frequent meetings. While Manoj’s family accepted their relationship, Shashi’s mother and brother initially disapproved.

A Love Story Built on Respect and Compromise

Because of the opposition from Shashi’s family, she and Manoj Kumar used to meet secretly on the terrace of their home. They bonded over their love for movies and deeply respected each other’s thoughts and feelings. Manoj often said that love meant making compromises. In interviews, he shared how marriage brought many changes in his life. He even credited the success of his film Hariyali Aur Rasta, which released after his marriage, as a turning point that made him a superstar.
