Akshaya Navami 2024: Significance
Akshaya Navami holds an immense religious significance in Hindu religion. This day is also celebrated as Amla Navami. This day is celebrated with great reverence among Hindus. Hindu women observe fast on this auspicious day and perform puja to Amla Tree as it is considered highly meritorious to worship this tree. It is believed that people who worship the tree on this sacred day of Akshaya Navami, get blessed with long life, well being and get salvation after death.
On this holy day, devotees from different cities, visit Mathura, Vrindavan and circumambulate Govardhan Parbat. People perform various religious and spiritual activities. As per the Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that Lord Krishna travelled Mathura from the streets of Vrindavan and fulfilled all his duties.
This day also marks the beginning of the Satya Yuga and that's also the reason that people must perform puja to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva and seek blessings.
This day is also dedicated to worship Goddess Jagaddhatri and special puja is performed to seek blessings of the Goddess. This day is celebrated in West Bengal and it is believed that devotees who perform the puja to Maa Jagaddhatri, get blessed with peace, prosperity, happiness and good fortune.
Akshay Navami 2024: Puja Vidhi
1. People wake up early in the morning and take a bath before starting puja rituals.
2. Women visit temple, where there is Amla Tree and they sit under the Amla tree, facing east direction and worship the tree.
3. They mix milk with water and then offer it in the roots of the tree and flowers, light a diya with desi ghee, offer sweets and tie a red thread around the tree seven times.
4. Devotees recite Lord Ganesha Katha (Bindayak Katha).
5. They circumambulate 7 times around the tree.
6. People must donate food and clothes to a Brahmin.
7. Doing charity and donation is considered highly rewarding.
