Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi holds a special significance among the twelve Sankashti Chaturthi that falls each year because it is associated with Lord Ganesha's Vikat form, a fierce yet protective manifestation of the deity. There are twelve Sankashti Chaturthi and each Sankashti falls every month. Every lunar month, on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon), Sankashti Chaturthi occurs. For the devotees of Lord Ganesha, who is renowned for banishing "Sankat" (problems or barriers) and bestowing peace, wealth, and wisdom upon his followers, it is a highly esteemed day for fasting. Each of the twelve Sankashti Chaturthis celebrated each year is linked to a distinct Ganesha form, along with a related "Peetha" (spiritual seat) and Vrat Katha (fasting tale). Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi is a profoundly spiritual time for introspection, cleansing, and divine intervention.

Who is Vikat Ganesha?
One of Lord Ganesha's 32 celestial incarnations is Vikat. "Vikat" means "dreadful" or "ferocious," although in this form, Ganesha is protective rather than destructive, particularly at times of great adversity or darkness. To protect followers from strong negativities, internal adversaries (such as ego, rage, and greed), and external threats. During this Chaturthi, Vikat Ganesha is asked to aid in overcoming spiritual ignorance and severe hurdles.

Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi 2025: Puja Vidhi
1. Get up early and take bath and clean the house.
2. Arrange an altar where you can set up an idol of Lord Ganesha.
3. Light a diya with desi ghee and offer garland, yellow sweets and meetha paan.
4. Offering Durva grass is one of the most important part of ritual.
5. Recite mantras to invoke the idol and ten recite Sankashti Vrat Katha.
6. Devotees do Chandrodaya Puja, also known as Moonrise Puja.
7. They break their fast after offering water to Moon God.
