Every lunar month, on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon), Sankashti Chaturthi occurs. 1. Get up early and take bath and clean the house.

3. Light a diya with desi ghee and offer garland, yellow sweets and meetha paan.
4. Offering Durva grass is one of the most important part of ritual.
5. Recite mantras to invoke the idol and ten recite Sankashti Vrat Katha.
6. Devotees do Chandrodaya Puja, also known as Moonrise Puja.
7. They break their fast after offering water to Moon God.
