Cam Newton rips Saints' quarterback strategy, urges the team to chase Aaron Rodgers in bold Super Bowl push

Send Push
Cam Newton has never been shy with his takes — and his latest one is turning heads across the NFL. The former MVP quarterback is calling on the New Orleans Saints to make a bold move that could shift the balance of power in the NFC: go all in for Aaron Rodgers .

Why Aaron Rodgers and New Orleans might be the perfect match
With Aaron Rodgers’ time in New York reportedly over, Cam Newton believes the legendary quarterback would be a perfect fit in New Orleans, where stable weather, a strong roster, and a hungry fanbase could give him the right stage for a final championship run.

Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, is still widely respected for his arm talent, game IQ, and leadership. But after a turbulent stint with the New York Jets, his future is uncertain. Enter Newton’s idea — pair Rodgers with a Saints team that’s only missing a steady, elite presence at quarterback.

“He's used to playing in Green Bay where you have to deal with a lot of elements,” Newton explained. “But here, it's just about playing football. You ain't got to worry about snow, wind, and rain.”

It’s a strong pitch. Rodgers spent nearly two decades battling frigid winters in Wisconsin. In New Orleans, the conditions are ideal — fast turf, indoor stadium, and a schedule that avoids the brutal weather that often disrupts passing games.

Saints roster could give Aaron Rodgers the tools to contend right away

The Saints have quietly built a talented team on both sides of the ball. With playmakers like Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and a rejuvenated Michael Thomas, Rodgers wouldn’t lack weapons. Add in a top-tier defense and head coach Dennis Allen’s steady leadership, and the Saints start to look like a sleeping giant.

Newton emphasized the opportunity: “In New Orleans, Rodgers could really show what he's capable of without all that weather hindering him.”

Since Drew Brees retired, the Saints have cycled through quarterbacks without long-term success. Rodgers would bring instant credibility and experience, perhaps just what New Orleans needs to make a deep postseason run.

While it’s still just a hypothetical, Newton’s call has ignited debate — and in a wide-open NFC, the idea of Rodgers donning black and gold suddenly doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
