Giannis Antetokounmpo 's potential trade options during the offseason highlighted the Miami Heat and New York Knicks as possible destinations. While the latter was revealed as the "only" choice "desired" by the Antetokounmpo camp, the South Beach team also had some trade packages ready for offer. Fortunately for the Milwaukee Bucks , neither options panned out, as the star center has decided on staying with the team for now.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had options at hand this summer
Not only the New York Knicks, Giannis Antetokounmpo also had options from South Beach during the offseason this summer. Allegedly, the Miami Heat offered trade packages to the Milwaukee Bucks for Antetokounmpo, although it did not involve Bam Adebayo . As revealed by sources, “If Antetokounmpo had asked out, the Heat was prepared to make an offer that did not include Bam Adebayo."
That did not come to fruition though, most likely because Antetokounmpo was more inclined towards the Big Apple , as he saw the New York Knicks as the "only" choice while contemplating a move from the Bucks. Allegedly, the Greek national did not think the current roster had the capacity to challenge for the championship in the 2025-26 season. But with the assurance given by Bucks GM Jon Horst, it seems like he has decided to stay for now.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is most likely to move on from Milwaukee Bucks soon
While Giannis Antetokounmpo has decided to stay with the Milwaukee Bucks for now, especially after an allegedly open conversation with the team General Manager Jon Horst, how long he stays there is the big question. Many behind the scenes believe that his days in Milwaukee are numbered.
A recent report suggests that he could make his move as soon as this year, so most likely when the trade window opens once again at the end of the year. Or it could happen during the next offseason. His current contract is valid until the 2026-27 season, but if a better option pops up, he could very well decide to make a move if things don't go his way.
