WhatsApp introduces new tools for business users
- Message Opt-In : Users can choose how they interact with businesses—either by initiating contact themselves or opting in to receive messages via channels like business websites, physical stores, or directly on WhatsApp.
- Blocking and Reporting: To maintain transparency, WhatsApp clearly indicates when users are chatting with businesses and allows them to block or report a business anytime, even sharing specific reasons for doing so.
- Feedback Tools: Users can provide feedback on messages using "interested" or "not interested" buttons for offers and announcements, such as sales coupons or product updates. Additionally, they can toggle their preferences for these messages on or off at any time.
WhatsApp is also rolling out tools to help businesses improve their customer interactions:
- Business Broadcasts: A new paid feature in the WhatsApp Business app allows businesses to send targeted and advanced messages to customers. This move is designed to ensure businesses are intentional with their communications.
- Message Limits: To avoid overwhelming users, the platform limits the number of marketing messages customers can receive, ensuring that all interactions remain relevant and helpful.
- Quality Control: Businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform must use pre-approved message templates, which undergo a strict review process to align with WhatsApp’s policies. Metrics like read rates help businesses refine their messaging frequency and content for better engagement.
