Coffee giant, Starbucks is again under fire as employees protested against deportations of migrants by halting their services for a few minutes that led to all the backlash against Starbucks. Here’s all you need to know about this matter!
Is the trend real?
This is not the first time, when conglomerates have faced massive backlash following social media trends. After the massive boycott of Walmart by the masses, Starbucks has found itself in a major mess after the employees collectively protested against the deportations of illegal immigrants after some popular videos circulating over the internet wherein, a user of social media posted on X that “Starbucks employees left a MESSAGE for Donald Trump. Employees all across the US “stopped working for a few minutes”, to protest illegal immigrants being deported.”
What really happened?
What triggered the matter was a video all over the social media that showed the Starbucks employees walking out of their work stations to stop their services as their way of protest or fighting for human rights. However, this led to a massive call for protests by MAGA supporters as they called for a Starbucks boycott! In fact, this caught all the attention.
Why is it trending?
The Starbucks boycott caught attention amid the ongoing boycott of Walmart, which seems to be the beginning of what the People’s Union USA has dubbed their Economic Blackout Tour. In fact, the boycott against Walmart and its affiliated brands began this week in response to the company’s rollback of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, following recent executive orders from President Donald Trump.
Consumers can expect more such boycotts for the next few months.
How did the internet react?
While responding to the trending videos of Starbucks workers, a user on X wrote: “Well maybe MAGA can respond by boycotting Starbucks?? OR is it too hard to give up that overpriced coffee to support @POTUS??” Another user wrote “Removing my app and done with Starbucks @Starbucks Calling all veterans…17 million of us..let’s make this viral and stop going to Starbucks in honor of all our veterans and POTUS.” Lastly, a user wrote “For a few minutes, eh? Wow, I bet that really got Trump's attention.”
