NEW DELHI: Ahead of the festive season , the Cabinet on Thursday approved nearly ₹2,029 crore productivity-linked bonus for 11.7 lakh railway employees. The bonus is equivalent to 78 days' wages, and the maximum amount payable per eligible employee is ₹17,951.
The Cabinet also approved a revised productivity-linked reward scheme for major ports and dock labour board employees and workers from 2020-21 to 2025-26. This will benefit about 20,704 employees and the total financial implication for the entire period will be about 200 crore, an official statement said.
Announcing the bonus, railway and I&B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the performance of the national transporter in 2023-2024 was very good and it loaded a record cargo of 1,588 million tonnes and carried nearly 670 crore passengers.
