NEW DELHI: The indefinite strike by Samsung India Electronics Ltd employees at its plant near Sriperumbudur has been called off after more than a month, according to a statement from the Tamil Nadu government . The workers have decided to resume their duties at the factory.
Approximately 1,100 out of the total 1,750 employees at Samsung India have been on strike since September 9, demanding various concessions such as wage revision , improved work conditions, and registration of the newly formed Samsung India Workers Union , which is backed by CITU, with the labour department .
The decision to end the strike was reached during a conciliatory meeting held at the Department of Labour Welfare 's office in Chennai on Tuesday. Representatives from both Samsung India and the striking workers participated in the meeting.
"All the striking workers will call off the agitation and return to work immediately. On returning to work the management will not victimise the workers for having participated in the protest," an official release said.
