Jodhpur: Ten days after his arrest and transfer to Jodhpur Central Jail, climate activist and Ladakh protest leader Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Geetanjali Angmo, visited her husband in captivity Tuesday night and finally obtained his detention order.
Earlier on Monday, in response to a habeas corpus petition filed by Angmo, the Supreme Court had asked the Centre why she was not given notice of the grounds of her husband's detention under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) following violent clashes in Ladakh. The petition is slated for hearing on Oct 14.
Taking to X after the visit, Angmo posted, "...got the detention order, which we will challenge. His spirit is undaunted. His commitment resolute! His resilience intact!" "He conveys heartfelt thanks to all for their support and solidarity", she added.
Angmo is the second family member to visit Wangchuk at the Jodhpur Central Jail. Earlier on Saturday, his brother Tsetan Dorje met the detained leader and conveyed his appeal to the people to continue the struggle for full statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution peacefully.
