Weezer bassist's wife shot and booked for attempt to murder in wild hit-and-run chase in LA

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner 's wife Jillian Lauren Shriner was shot in the shoulder by LAPD on Tuesday and was booked for attempt to murder in a series of wild events that took place as the cops were chasing suspects in a hit-and-run case around Freewat and Figueroa Street. Shriner was not part of the hit-and-run case but she sprang in the middle holding a handgun that she refused to put down. Officials said she was taken to a hospital for treatment and she was out of danger.

This was a completely unrelated incident from what the cops were chasing as they responded to multiple vehicle hit-and-run cases on the Ventura Freeway. Three suspects were on the run on foot after they led the crash. Only one of them who stripped down to his boxers while fleeing the spot was detained while two others fled and there was this shooting of Shriner's wife.

According to reports, the suspect who got detained tried blending into the neighborhood in hos bozers -- jumping into a pool of a home and watering plants. Some locals who witnessed the crash started chasing the suspect as well.

As the chaos unfolded in the neighborhood with the chase, Jillion emerged outside her residence with a handgun. Cops asked her to drop the gun, but she continued pointing her handgun at the officers, prompting them to open fire.

Reports said Jillian went inside her residence with a shoulder wound but then she came outside with the family's babysitter and surrendered.

The LAPD said it determined that Shriner was not involved in the hit-and-run case. Shriner has authored multiple books, including the true crime nonfiction 'Behold the Monster', which was adapted into the Starz docu-series Confronting A Serial Killer.

Shriner married bassist Scott in 2005, four years after he joined the band. He and Shriner share two children. Weezer was recently added to the Coachella lineup along with singer Ed Sheeran.
