In a case dating back nine years, the Puttur POCSO Special Court sentenced a man to three years in prison and imposed a fine for inappropriate conduct with a minor. The verdict was delivered by Judge Saritha D., presiding over the POCSO court.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Mustafa, a resident of Kabaka Vidyapura, was found guilty of pulling a minor girl aside and behaving inappropriately on December 4, 2015, in Kabaka village. The girl managed to escape and informed her family, who subsequently filed a complaint. The Puttur City Police investigated and submitted the charge sheet.
Following the testimonies of 14 witnesses, the court ruled Mustafa guilty, sentencing him to three years of imprisonment and a fine of ₹21,400. Of this amount, ₹15,000 will be provided to the victim as compensation. Special Public Prosecutor Kudriya Pushparaj Adyantaya represented the state in the case.
