Udaipur Receives Unexpected Rainfall

Send Push

Udaipur : After a long dry spell, Udaipur and its surrounding areas experienced a sudden downpour on Friday evening. The brief but intense rainfall, lasting around 15-30 minutes, provided much-needed relief from the scorching heat that had persisted throughout the day.

Thick clouds began to gather around 5:45 pm, followed by a gentle drizzle that quickly intensified into a heavy shower. The sudden downpour led to waterlogging in several areas and caused drains to overflow.

Dr. Jagdish Chaudhary, an agricultural and weather expert at MPUAT, clarified that this rainfall cannot be attributed to the monsoon. Typically, monsoon rains occur in June, July, and August due to the onset of the monsoon from the Arabian Sea. The current rainfall is a result of a low-pressure area, likely influenced by a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal.
