April 15, 2025 Washington, D.C. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again made headlines after responding strongly to a suggestion by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who urged Trump to visit Ukraine before making any conclusions or proposing peace solutions for the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Trump’s response, delivered via his social media platform Truth Social, has stirred global debate and renewed focus on U.S. involvement in the conflict.
Zelensky Urges Trump to Witness War’s Reality FirsthandIn a recent interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes, President Zelensky suggested that before making any decisions or offering peace proposals, Donald Trump should visit Ukraine. Zelensky stated, “He should see our people, our soldiers, the destroyed churches, hospitals, and the children whose lives have been ruined. He needs to see this tragedy up close to understand the truth of this war.”
Zelensky’s comments were viewed as a call for global leaders to engage with the humanitarian side of the war and understand its devastating impact beyond geopolitical interests.
Trump Responds: “This Is Biden’s War, Not Mine”Reacting swiftly, Trump dismissed the suggestion and issued a forceful statement, saying, “The Russia-Ukraine war is Biden’s war, not mine.” He emphasized that he had no involvement in initiating the conflict and insisted that if the 2020 election had not been “rigged,” the war would have never started.
Trump further added, “I just became President again, and for the next four years while I’m in office, there will be no new conflicts—neither from President Putin nor from anyone else.” The statement appeared to reaffirm Trump’s recurring claims of foreign policy stability during his previous term.
“I’m Still Working to Prevent More Destruction,” Trump ClaimsDespite distancing himself from the war, Trump noted his ongoing efforts to prevent further loss of life and damage. “I’m still trying to stop more destruction and human tragedy,” he wrote. He also criticized Zelensky and President Biden, accusing them of mishandling the situation and letting the war escalate unnecessarily.
Trump’s remarks have sparked reactions across the political spectrum, with some praising his peace-focused stance and others accusing him of undermining U.S. foreign policy and downplaying the crisis.
