In a heartwarming gesture of sentimental value, a family in Gujarat bid farewell to their 12-year-old Wagon R with a unique burial ceremony, creating lasting memories for future generations. The event, costing over ₹4 lakh, was held on their agricultural land in Amreli district and drew around 1,500 attendees, including religious figures and spiritual guides.

According to The Times of India, the car was pushed into a 15-foot-deep pit, specially dug for the occasion. The family, led by Sanjay Polara, a Surat-based construction entrepreneur, held the event to honor the vehicle that, in his words, “brought good fortune to his family". Polara explained that the car had been a symbol of prosperity for his family, helping them achieve success in business and earn respect over the years.

“I bought this car nearly 12 years ago, and it brought prosperity to the family. Apart from seeing success in business, my family also gained respect. The vehicle proved lucky for my family and me. Hence, instead of selling it, I gave it a samadhi at my farm as a tribute,” Polara said to the media.

The farewell ceremony was filled with rituals. The car was adorned with floral garlands and carefully transported to the site. Once in the pit, the family draped it with a green cloth, offered rose petals, and performed a puja as priests chanted mantras. The final act was the filling of the pit with soil, giving the vehicle a peaceful resting place.

This unique tribute was a testament to the deep emotional bond some families share with inanimate objects, elevating the simple act of saying goodbye to a cherished possession into a meaningful ritual.
