Commentary
  • Right then, India have the lead and have plenty of time to really frustrate out there in the field. Conditions are hot and the pitch looks pristine to bat on. Bangladesh will need something really special from their frontline pacers to save face here. Join us in a bit for India's second innings or it could be Bangladesh's as well if India do decide to give the follow-on which is unlikely.
  • Bangladesh will be kicking themselves with that batting performance and yes, they have come back from the brink very recently against Pakistan but conceding a first-innings lead of 200-plus runs against India at home is like axing your own foot. Only four batters could even break into the 20s with Shakib Al Hasan top-scoring at 32. Mehidy Hasan looked the most settled batter as he remained unbeaten on 27 and Bangladesh failed to even play out 50 overs.
  • A job well done for India with the ball and they have cleaned up Bangladesh for just 149 runs, amassing a huge first-innings lead of 227 runs. They have the option of the follow-on but most likely, India will bat again and will look to make the most of what looks like pretty good batting conditions. Jasprit Bumrah starred with his four wickets with the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Ravindra Jadeja all picking a couple of wickets each with Ravichandran Ashwin the only bowler not to pick up a wicket, rarely does that happen here in Chennai.
